FOR TEACHERS AND SCHOOL LEADERS

School information

What the beta does

Times Table Haze provides short teacher-controlled maths fact practice. Teachers select priority multiplication tables and assign either an individual duration or a common finish time. Each allocation has a maximum of 20 minutes. Learners work through priority material before moving to mastery and extension practice; higher gears do not replace outstanding lower-gear work.

Practice schedules carry over between sessions. The intervals and speed thresholds are prototype teaching heuristics, not validated assessment standards. Use classroom observation alongside the results. The site does not provide a diagnosis, a standardised test or a high-stakes grading decision.

Golden rules for teachers

  1. Complete the school's required assessment and notification/consent process before inviting students. A website being reachable does not establish approval.
  2. Choose the priority tables and time window before sharing the class QR code. Explain that a common finish time can give late starters less practice, and the 20-minute cap can end an early starter first.
  3. Use initials only. Keep any mapping to full names within school-controlled systems. Avoid personal information in class names.
  4. Share the class code within the class, close new enrolments when the roster is complete and replace the code if it is shared beyond the intended group. Each class permits at most 32 learners.
  5. Keep PINs private, use teacher-issued temporary PINs for recovery and sign out on shared devices.
  6. Treat mistakes and slower answers as practice signals. Do not use speed alone to label ability, effort or disability. Help learners whose input method affects their answers.
  7. Explain the gears: learning and reviews/daily reviews, mastery, extension and extension II. Clearing today's reviews means the learner is ready for today's next practice phase; it does not mean permanent mastery.
  8. Trial the actual classroom devices and network, and keep an alternative activity available if the internet or site is unavailable.

WA school assessment and access

The WA Department of Education's Students Online in Public Schools Procedures, section 3.4, directs site managers to assess third-party online services, consult the internal catalogue and follow the applicable risk report's notification/consent requirements. If a needed service is absent, the procedures identify a request route for an online service risk assessment.

Provide this information and the privacy page to your school site manager or ICT contact. The service holds class-linked learner information; do not assume initials alone qualify it for a no-personal-information exemption. Network filtering/access and the third-party service assessment are separate matters. Times Table Haze does not currently claim Department endorsement, catalogue acceptance or school approval.

Current trial limits

Internet is required. Offline operation and guaranteed uptime are not provided. Teacher reset emails work, but the first live test reached junk. Self-service deletion, an automatic retention policy and a tested operator backup/restore process remain to be completed. Stronger teacher password hashing is deferred and independent security/accessibility audits have not been completed. These are assessment facts, not features already delivered.
